So… What's Your Lore?

A letter from the founder

Hello everyone, and welcome.

Thank you for being here. On behalf of every member and the founder of Lore Lab, thank you for joining us. If you've found your way here, I imagine it's either out of curiosity or to support. Either way, thank you. Give me five minutes, maybe a little more, and I'll tell you why I created Lore Lab in the first place.

After nearly two decades in the EDC community, still actively roaming and working, I noticed something: many customers ask the same questions before they buy. I get it. Even as someone deep in the scene, I still find myself confused or unsure about what I actually want.

The information out there is endless. But truly helpful, user-focused content? Rare. Most reviews are one-sided. They rarely explain why something might not suit certain people, or who it's really for. Language barriers and limited access to some product forums only make things worse.

Eventually I realised I was having the same conversations over and over, explaining the same things to different friends and customers. That's when the idea hit me: what if I spent the same time writing those answers down and placing them somewhere permanent so they could help more people?

Beyond opinions: what honest reviews really need

Let's say you're shopping for something. You've spent hours crawling the internet and finally find a product that's widely praised. You buy it. But when it arrives, something feels off. It's not what you hoped for, and yet nobody talks about that part. So you start to wonder if the problem is you. Sound familiar?

Even now, I still research every purchase carefully. And still, I often end up with that feeling of doubt. There's a lack of real-world user feedback, too many shallow reviews, or worse, reviews that seem real but don't make any sense.

I've been around a while, and I've spent way too much money and time testing gear just because I was curious. Think about how many EDC categories exist: knives, pens, watches, bags, wallets, keychains, belts, jackets; the list goes on.

I can't claim to know everything, but I've used enough products to know what doesn't work for me and why. And I can usually explain why it might actually work for someone else. That's the point. We don't just label stuff good or bad. We explain both sides.

Real feedback. Real research. Real talk.

While I founded Lore Lab, I'm not the only one behind it. We've got several contributors, each an expert in their own field, and I've learned a ton from them too. At the core, what we do is simple: diligent research, honest reviews, clear communication. No hype, no fluff, just helping you see the full picture before you buy.
